I fell in love with this kitchen 5 years ago when we purchased our home. Although the oak wood and brass fixtures were eyesores, I could easily envision how beautiful the space would be with a budget and some blood, sweat, and tears. The basic footprint stayed the same in the remodel, but we did relocate the cooktop and refrigerator as well as enlarge the island.

Hello 2016!

I purchased inexpensive wood counter stools at Target and sprayed them with a fun aqua spray paint. I finished them off with some lacquer and, “BOOM”, the stools added a much needed pop of color in an otherwise all-white kitchen.

How amazing is this arabesque backsplash? It adds a timeless element to the kitchen with a whimsical feel. I chose glass tiles with a milky white background color.

These mason jar lids were the best find at Michaels. They make for a cute sugar display!

A view from the other side of the kitchen highlights the dining nook, which houses a 60″ round pedestal table from Ballard Designs.

I custom ordered a wood “gather” sign in the perfect shade of aqua. It welcomes guests into the kitchen.

Selecting countertops for the kitchen was the most grueling task of all. I adore marble slabs, but knew they were not a practical choice for my busy (and messy) family of 6. I searched and searched for an alternative and finally found Macaubas Quartzite. The base color is a creamy white filled with gray and bronze veins. I-LOVE-These-countertops!!!!! Quartzite is a natural stone that is about as strong and resilient as granite.

Scrolled doors and a custom hood are the crown jewels of the kitchen.

The built-in pantry boasts deep shelves and large drawers to help us keep our small appliances and cookware handy.

The Mia Faceted-Crystal Pendant from Pottery Barn adorns the kitchen island.

The before and after of our kitchen is remarkable. The result of soft white tones juxtaposed against the warm acacia wood floors creates an inviting space. I couldn’t be happier with this remodel!
