I can’t believe that my baby turned six years old! The time has flown by, and it forces me to realize that she is no longer a baby or toddler, she is a full-fledged little girl! I mean, Kindergarten is big time, right?

For Delaney’s birthday, I threw together a simple party that anyone can do. Our “Pancakes and Pajamas” theme is suitable for any age group, boy or girl. How can you go wrong when your guests are in the comfort of their PJs and they get to eat yummy breakfast goodies?

First, let’s check out the cute birthday girl.

Delaney wore a colorful pajama set along with a fun floral headband that added some whimsy to her special day.

Next up, I created the look of a headboard using a small PVC pipe photo backdrop and a universal chair cover that slipped right over the frame. These were items that I already owned, so I got a lot of bang for my buck!

I purchased 2.5 yards of fabric from Joann’s for $5 to create the look of a bedspread. I used existing pillow shams from my daughter’s old bedding set to complete the look.

Here is a view of the twin beds side by side.

After working on the set up for the guest seating, I moved on to the food display.

Featured on the breakfast bar were glass milk bottles (found at Target).

I like to personalize eacj tablescape. I added a picture of the birthday girl, and a cute chalk board indicating her age. It is surrounded by colorful accents. I love the pop of color that the Fruit Loops add to the display.

PJ13

Originally I had planned to make pancakes on the griddle, but at the last minute I decided to purchase frozen pancakes. I warmed them up in the microwave prior to the guests’ arrival and stored them in a chaffing dish. This really helped to simplify the food prep!

PJ2

Syrup was served in individual boats.

PJ9

I made yogurt parfaits using a layer of strawberry yogurt, whipped topping, another layer of strawberry yogurt, and topped off with fruity pebbles. It was colorful and delicious!

PJ10

Thank you Target for the cute tin buckets and chevron plates!

PJ8

The donut cake was quite a hit! I don’t think I will ever do a regular cake again.

PJ11

Friends forever!

PJ14

So simple and so colorful.
