They say that little girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice. My seven-year-old clients, Kate and Sophie, are the cutest little girls around! These twins are full of life, learning, and luster.

My challenge for this dynamic duo was to create a bedroom to match their vibrant personalities. There were two criteria for the space: 1. The design must incorporate the existing lavender walls. 2. The design must be in a style that they will not outgrow.

S&K before

This is where we started before the design overhaul.

Well, hello there! Introducing Kate & Sophie’s new room.

In order to create drama in the room, I painted narrow black and white stripes above the window and then framed it out with moulding. The next step was to add shiny, black drawer pulls to the base of the moulding. After sewing curtain panels out of this peppy duck cloth found at Hobby Lobby, I added 5 ribbon ties to each panel. These two design elements (the curtains and the striped accent) create a beautiful focal point when you walk into the room, and the windows are enlarged by the placement of the curtains.

Vibrant chevron fabric creates a beautiful accent when framed as a backdrop for the girls’ initials.

A modern yellow table serves as a nightstand and gives juxtaposition to the yellow walls.

S&K 1

A whimsical metal tree is the perfect way to continue our color scheme in the design.

Tweet, tweet! Our bird art POPS off of the walls!

A vintage dresser is nestled perfectly under the window.

“S” marks the spot.

Every little girl’s room needs a little bit of bling.
